Storage Wars
Utilizing the space in your apartment home can be a struggle - especially during the holiday season! When space feels like a commodity, it can sometimes feel like it’s never enough. Every square foot counts.
Did you know that in the United States $38 billion is spent on average per year on additional storage solutions like bins, organizers, multi-functional furniture, and self-storage?
Here are a few tips and tricks for saving some space in your apartment:
Collapse as much as you can
A few collapsible items to look for include tables and chairs, hampers, and storage bins. If you’re looking to save space in your cabinets, try finding items like collapsible measuring cups, Tupperware containers, or cups.
Store items vertically
Use as much wall space available by storing items vertically rather than horizontally. Use items like hooks, shelving, bookcases, and wall-mounted storage to hold any extra knickknacks that might be laying around.
Store items under the bed
Storing items under the bed is a trend that won’t soon die in the world of apartment living. With solutions like under-the-bed storage containers, it’s easy to organize items that don’t need to be used regularly but are easy to reach. If you’re looking to add more space under the bed, consider adding bed lifts that will give your bedframe a few extra inches of height.
4. Declutter
On average, the typical American household has over 300,000 items. Now we don’t think that number is as high for apartment dwellers but it is still pretty high! Take the time to declutter items like clothing, decor, kitchen and bathroom items, and paper items including mail, magazines, and books.
